Hey there!
I am Karen Hau, born and raised in Hong Kong, but my mother is from Netherlands, so I have dual citizenship and currently resides in Gothenburg, Sweden where I have lived for the past year.
I have worked as a freelance graphic designer and copywriter for over 8 years, in the fields of advertising, movie studios and private businesses. I graduated from BA (Hons) in Advertising Design in Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2014 and I have since worked in Taiwan, Hong Kong and I am currently working remotely with clients in different countries.
I have also, besides working as a designer and copywriter, been active in multi-creative industries. These include working as a screen-writer and playwright. I wrote TV Series The Republic for Hong Kong Broadcast channel ViuTV in 2018-2019, and also co-authored a literation based on the script.
I am also keen on exploring different cultures by travelling, and I have never felt shy interacting with travellers/ strangers when I worked as an event staff in a Hong Kong hostel. I am a story teller, quick learner and a team player with good communication skills, hospitality skills and I’m not afraid to throw in the occasional dad joke. One of the many reasons I love these fields is because I believe design, advertising and stories with good-hearted intention can change human behaviours. :)
I am currently available for full time and part time employment as well as freelance projects.
